Save the date

I find the hardest thing is to design for yourself. Nothing feels quite right and you really want to represent yourself in the best way possible, since you’re a designer and all. Well, I designed our save the date-invites a couple of weeks ago, and it was fun - but hard. I don’t know why I put so much time and effort into it, since most people we send it to probably wouldn’t care or even realise the difference between designed ones and a Times New Roman text made in Word with some free clip-art. But it’s still nice to have something you’ve designed and that you like. Anywho, this is the result (actually, this is what they would have looked like, had I printed them out, but we got lazy and sent them via e-mail, hehe. The real invitations will be printed out and posted, so we didn’t think it was necessary to do it twice. I Photoshopped this one ;-)

Wedding

I’m getting married in September :-), but with everything going on (moving from Australia, getting things sorted here in Sweden) I haven’t had much time to plan everything that needs to be planned. And believe me: there’s a lot of planning that needs to be done… We’ve booked the venue at least, and that’s the most important thing, I guess.

Anyways, I recently started browsing around for wedding dresses online, thinking that it would be one of the fun tasks. But it seems I don’t share the same taste as other brides-to-be, because 99% of the dresses I’ve seen so far are awful. Well, not awful maybe, but very far from “the one”. Thing is, I’m looking for an empire line style or something close to that, but most of the dresses seem to be made from the same concept: typical princess dresses with a tight top part down to the hips and a wider skirt part. When I actually do find an empire line one somewhere they often look more like evening gowns than wedding dresses.

These two below are beginning to come close to what I’m after, but they’re not perfect (even though the first one comes close). The second one looks like it’s supposed to have an empire line cut, but it’s still tight all the way down to the waist… and I hate the ribbon tied in the back like that. But the skirt is nice and more wedding-like than the first one.

Tomorrow I’m hitting the wedding stores for the first time, and who knows; maybe I’ll change my mind once I actually try a few of them on…
